when we NEED music !
by ppb on Sunday, July 06 2008

i don't download anymore mp3 on p2p or on warez, torrents...

Not because i would be a digital criminal but because of the net i can download for free (nd legal on omds like idj) more music i love that i can download.

In 2K08 i think even some amateurs bands are making frex mp3 i love as much that formatted music i can't download illegaly.

We are submerged by good and legal downloads that i download a song for free when i really NEED it meaning i'm geek of your band and your music is what i look for and just don't hear in the dozens songs that will pass in loop in a month on the radio.

With free omd and the fact some bands are making bombs for free and that i'm a hot potatoe i don't even had the idea to mass downloading illegal mp3s or to download or rip songs that only pleased me.

A song than pleased me will not be listen two times most of the time.

And finally i will always have some legendary bands i will download their music in p2p or else but it's like 5% of illegals mp3 on my hard drive and recording video clips of the song of the summer on your hard drive from a tv decoder from a music channel isn't so illegal in my mind...

I did a lot when i was young and hungry with mp3 but now i'm tired of this because the internet has overflowed my brain by so much free good music and shows, radio, tv, that i prefer to download ps2 roms than mp3.

The last cd i buyed was 3 years ago and i'm passing my days and night making and listening music...

Honestly, there isn't any music out there worth risking an illegal download. There are very few select artists who's work I enjoy, and I don't mind paying for their CD or at least an mp3 single. Illegal downloading is probably used more by people who enjoy just about anything MTV throws at them, so they have a need to go out and download garbage to look cool to their friends. It would just take way too much money for someone to really go buy all the shitty music out there. Key point, only a few commercial/mainstream artists out there, and I will pay them because I respect their artistry.

I really should have checked my grammar before posting that last message. I meant to say "only a few commercial/mainstream artists worth listening to - in my opinion - out there..."

Support the music makers
by TheTiburon on Friday, August 01 2008

I was just talking to both Shanny and C-Rok about this yesterday. Why, as artists and producers, would we not pay other artists and producers for their hardwork? Now, i'm all for videos uploaded to youtube. I truly believe in paying for what i use and listen too.

From an economic standpoint, finite goods are what most people agree have monetary value. Infinite goods such as data (mp3's in particular) aren't really worth anything to the majority of people. This is evidenced by the general consensus that unauthorized file sharing is less a moral decision than a fiscal one.

i have to disagree to a certain extent. when you buy a cd you are supporting the label more than the artist. the artist gets like a dollar on every cd he sells. the label pockets the rest. now if it is an independent label then yeah, show some f'ing support and pay for the product. like for instance one of my favorite bands is nofx. i will make it point to go out and buy their products. but if your band is signed to some bloodsucking corporate label like interscope...well screw them. they are a big part of the reason that music is so bad in america. i WANT to see them lose money, go under, and never come back. but of course, i dont listen to much of what comes out on the big labels anyway, so it is a moot point kinda...but i am glad other people are robbing them blind. i also download anything i used to own and lost indiscriminately. all those old new order and cure cds...long since stolen by friends or scratched beyond use..if i ever bought it in the past then i feel it is my right to steal it now! LOL!

That's what I thought... but apparently people are willing to pay for absolutely nothing.

As a bedroom DJ I had a missive collection of songs on disc so there was never a need to go searching for illegal stuff online. Plus most of my friends have told me about all the virus software that's attached to the free stuff. I would not put my computer at risk for a $10 CD. Plus Microsoft ZUNE offers some pretty nice deals for music lovers.

Should have used spell check! "massive" not "missive."
